Detroit Youth Choir – “Sweet Child O’ Mine” Gun Violence Awareness Film
In August 2022, the Detroit Youth Choir released a moving cover of Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine" to raise awareness about gun violence in America. The video features emotionally powerful imagery, including photos of victims—such as 10-year-old Layla Salazar, who was killed in the Uvalde school shooting—and visuals of the choir wearing shirts printed with the names of mass shooting locations.
I produced the film and led postproduction in close collaboration with Alistair Wilson at Imagination Agency, Yessian (music production) and the Detroit Youth Choir. From casting and coordination to visual storytelling and edit, this was a meaningful project aimed at amplifying a critical message through music and community.
Directed by Everett Stewart. Production company was Get Super Rad. Creative Editorial by Nick Sullivan and Destiny Bruderick
